my dd is 6 weeks and drinks 6 oz bottles every 2.5-3 hrhs all day. she wont take more than 6oz in one go, between the first and second bottle she might last 4.5 hrs but its de only time she goes that long. between 6:30pm and 10:30 pm she drinks 3 bottles, 6:30 8:30 and 10:30.
she then sleeps from 11pm to approx 6.
my question is do u think she needs the hungier baby food. she's drinking 7 or 8 bottles a day but sleeps all night. she was 8lb 3 when she was born (2 weeks early) and is now 11lb9.
tbh, there's nothing much wrong with the way she's feeding imo at such a young age. I wouldn't consider changing just yet, give it another 2/3 weeks and then see. Unless the gap between feeds go down to under the two hours then I'd leave her.
I changed to hungrier formula for DD2 and found that I got maybe 30 mins to 1 hour extra, sometimes it was the same gap between feeds.
6ozs seems fine really, DD2 is 8 months now and has never drank more than 6ozs in one go!
That sounds wonderful. You have a 6 week old baby that sleeps from 11pm till 6am - do nothing!!!
I bf so I'm not much use on formula questions but my DS clusterfed every night too and it meant he slept better. She is probably 'tanking' up during the day which is helping her sleep through the nights. I'd be worried if you changed to a heavier formula the evening feeds would spread and you might end up with a feed at 6.30, 10.30 and 2.30...so unless the gap during the day gets shorter or she starts waking earlier in the morning I'd leave her as it is and enjoy the uninterupted nights.
