Hi,
My supply seems to have disappeared. Until last weekend I was expressing on average 300ml a day as well as BFing but now am lucky if I get 150ml. Have had a temperature on & off and have been to GP but nothing wrong. LO still BF with the shields but does need the top up and I have had to give her formula as I haven't enough.
Please has anyone any suggestions - I really want to try and sort this out.
Thanks a million
Kx

you need to boost your food and liquid intake... make sure you are drinking LOTS of water - on top of what you drink in tea/coffee - as too much tea/coffee will dehydrate you.
Make sure you are getting at LEAST 5 a day on fruit/veg but really tryand make it 8-10 portions.... you should notice a difference within a day or two.
best of luck .

Motillium is supposed to increase your milk supply, as it contains Domperidone
Domperidone (Motilium™) is a drug that has, as a side effect, stimulating or increasing milk production, probably by increasing prolactin production by the pituitary gland. Prolactin is the hormone that stimulates the cells in the mother's breast to produce milk. Domperidone increases prolactin secretion indirectly, by interfering with the action of dopamine whose action is to decrease the secretion of prolactin by the pituitary gland. Domperidone is generally used for disorders of the gastrointestinal tract (gut) and has not been released in Canada for use as a stimulant for milk production. This does not mean that it cannot be prescribed for this reason, but rather that the manufacturer does not back its use for increasing milk production. However, there are several studies that show that it works to increase milk production and that it is safe.

would second the recommendation for Motilium. I used it to help me to re-establish breastfeeding after an enforced weaning for 6 weeks... would also recommend taking to the bed for a rest day, increased feedings/pumping (if possible) and lots and lots of fluids. Should help within a couple of days at most.

Sorry to jump on board but I was just interested to know how much or how often you had to take the motilium.
Thanks.
Hope you get your favourable result katyab.

Here you go
Using Domperidone: (motillium)
Generally, we start domperidone at 20 milligram's (two 10 mg tablets) four times a day. If taking domperidone 4 times a day is inconvenient, 30 milligram's (three 10 mg tablets) three times a day is fine. Printouts from the pharmacy often suggest taking domperidone 30 minutes before eating, but that is because of its use for digestive intolerance. You can take the domperidone about every 6 hours, when it is convenient (there is no need to wake up to keep to a 6 hour schedule—it does not make any difference). Most mothers take the domperidone for 3 to 8 weeks. Mothers who are nursing adopted babies may have to take the drug much longer.
After starting domperidone, it may take three or four days before you notice any effect, though sometimes mothers notice an effect within 24 hours. It appears to take two to three weeks to get a maximum effect, but some mothers have noted effects only after 4 or more weeks. It is reasonable to give domperidone a trial of at least 4 weeks before saying it doesn’t work.

A couple of thoughts.
Is your LO drinking more so you have less when you express?
I was reading another post and you had a stressful weekend and that may have caused your supply to drop and being stressed about it could be a vicious circle. I had a few times where I wound myself up and got 50ml when I would otherwise got 300+.
Is your pump working properly? I had a couple of unexplained drops. One was when the tube wasn't in properly and the second was when the yellow bit wasn't screwed in correctly.
As another poster suggested take to your bed and feed or pump for a day or two. This will bring up your supply. You could spend a couple of hours pumping for 10 minutes and resting for 10 minutes. You'll see the results the next day.
Keep calm. You are doing brilliantly and it will work out.

thanks for all the suggestion.
Pink Irish - thanks for the motilium tip - bought some last night but definitely didn't buy enough!
Am drinking tons but have realised my eating habits have gone out the window...lunch at 4.30 doesn't work at the best of times.
Reckon that and stress/pain is not helping, so busy trying to deal with that. Spent a fortune in Boots on compresses, etc.
