DS has developed a penchant for biting me when he's finishing a feed or if he's not really hungry. Not only does he bite but gets me right at the tip and pulls his head to the side, needless to say it's bloody sore and he sometimes gets a laugh out of my yelp! Any advice on how to discourage this? He doesn't have any teeth yet but he's teething like mad and I want to break the habit before they make an appearance
Answers:
Try to break the latch when you see the bite coming. Just stick your finger into the crook of his mouth, between his gums and get him off before he can bite. If he protests give him another chance but if he does it again then stop the feed.
My DS did this for a while and I did the above and the phase passed.

Hi Eleanor, the problem I don't see it coming . I have stopped the feed when he has repeatedly bitten me (2 or 3 times). Hopefully he'll soon get the message that if he bites that means no more!
Thanks

Hi Nommie
I had the same thing with Lucas and it was always at the end of a feed when he started messing, basically if they're sucking they can't bite so if it seems like he's finishing be ready with the finger as it were! take him off and say no, keep him off for a bit then start again, also try your best not to react too much I know easier said than done but they really do seem to find yelps of pain hilariously funny. Lucas got his first teeth at 4 months and I think he was trying them out, he's 16 months tomorrow and has all of his teeth but the back molars and hasn't bitten me in a long time. It seems to be just a phase.... a very painful one but just a phase. Good Luck.
